You saw the news last year when hurricanes Irma and Maria caused serious damage to parts of the Caribbean. The key word here is “parts”. Let me reassure you it was a few select islands that were severely impacted. The majority of the damage was predominately felt by Puerto Rico, Barbuda, Anguilla, Saint Martin (Sint Maarten), and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands.
At least 75% of the Caribbean escaped the hurricanes’ path. And there are over 33 countries in the Caribbean, so there are a lot of islands that were completely untouched! And with the affordable and direct flight options available from the northeastern and southeastern US airports, the Caribbean remains an easy to get to warm weather vacation or honeymoon option.

More and more diverse groups of people are traveling: from multi-generational families, destination weddings, girls or guys trips, to the ever popular honeymoon and anniversary couples. So the sooner you plan the better! The days of waiting until the last minute to get the best deal no longer exists. I hear it all the time, “I’ll wait for the airfare to drop” … and then they’re disappointed when the airfare has gone up.
The truth is that about 95% of the time airfare does NOT drop. In fact, their pricing structure is based on Economics 101 – “supply and demand”. It means the more the plane fills up the more they will increase the fares. Why? Plain and simple – because they can. So playing the waiting game is not the best value.
What about hotels? Yes, that price may change as well. We are finding that hotel space is filling up quickly with an increase in travelers. And typically, the more desired room categories are the first to sell out. So as they say: the early bird catches the worm.
